Mr. Silverstein concentrates his practice in the areas of securities arbitration, commercial litigation and general corporate law. He has extensive experience representing individual investors, hedge funds, brokerage firms and registered representatives in arbitration (FINRA, AAA and JAMS) and court proceedings throughout the country. His firm also specializes in all aspects of franchise law, nationwide and worldwide, and Mr. Silverstein has more than a decade of experience reviewing, calculating and confirming the propriety of the financial disclosures and franchise system statistics of the firm’s clients for purposes of public disclosure (specifically relating to the annual preparation of Franchise Disclosure Documents).
Mr. Silverstein’s primary practice involves representing investors in proceedings to recover their investment losses from stockbrokers, investment advisors, financial planners and broker-dealers, resulting in the return of tens of millions of dollars to individuals who were the victims of unsuitable recommendations, unauthorized trading, securities fraud, Ponzi schemes, municipal bond fraud, improper margin liquidations, theft of account assets, excessive trading to generate commissions and breach of fiduciary duty in fee-based managed accounts. He has also represented hedge funds in multi-million-dollar actions against their prime brokers in cases involving miscalculations of portfolio margin leading to improper margin liquidations as well as representing registered representatives and financial advisors in actions against their firm and other brokers regarding breach of contract, compensation and expungement.
